Description
Harbor City International School (harborcityschool.org) is a small, public charter school serving grades 7-12 in Duluth, MN. The purpose of this position is to support academic growth, social development and transition planning for students in grades 7-12 with Individualized Education Programs. Additionally, this leadership position will include .3 FTE for special education coordinator duties to support due process, data collection, and IEP meeting support.

● Experience and knowledge working with a wide variety of disabilities and accommodations.
● Experience leading workflow, time management, and system and curriculum development.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a variety of audiences.
● Organization skills and attends to detail
● Experience with and knowledge of special education due process and the continuum of services.
● Strong understanding and use of Evidence Based Practices to make data based decisions.

Responsibilities include:
● Plan, develop, monitor, and adapt students’ educational and behavioral program to meet the specific needs according to the Least Restrictive Environment in students’ IEPs; including providing and delivering curriculum to meet IEP goals
● Create a safe and inclusive environment for all students to engage in classroom and school activities
● Consistently and effectively collaborate and communicate between the appropriate service providers and IEP team members
● Gather, analyze, synthesize, and employ data to inform education plans and progress
● Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and students in a manner consistent with school culture and values
● Monitor and support special education teachers in IEP due processes, deadlines and records for special education students keeping HCIS in compliance with federal and state regulations.
● Assist in IEP evaluation process
● Work with Special Education and School Director in program development and oversight.
● Use SpEd Forms, Google Suites, including Google Classroom, and Powerschool management system
● Communicate with students, families, and colleagues professionally and effectively verbally and in writing.

Requirements
Education Requirements
● BA/BS or higher (MA preferred) in Special Education
● Valid MN teaching license in one or more of the following Disability Areas: SLD, EBD, ASD or ABS; Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) preferred.
