Harbor City International School (harborcityschool.org) in Duluth, MN is an inclusive, tuition free, public high school committed to academic challenge, community engagement, creative expression, and global perspective. The purpose of this position is to foster student musical development through choral groups for students in grades 7-12. The position will oversee 2 vocal groups and provide music program support.

The ideal candidate:
● Has experience and knowledge working with middle and high school students to create exciting vocal music opportunities including music theory, music history, performance, technique and composition in classroom experiences using a wide variety of musical genres.
● Proficient in piano accompaniment

Responsibilities include:
● Content development and instruction for 2 vocal ensembles: beginning and intermediate/advanced levels.
● Create a safe and inclusive environment for all students to engage in classroom and school activities
● Differentiate learning experiences for all students and work with special education staff to provide student accommodations
● Collect, maintain, and purchase supplies within allowed department budget
● Create activities & assessments which provide feedback to promote skill development, build robust musical understandings, and foster growth
● Facilitate at least 2 public performances each year, in coordination with the instrumental music teacher.
● Use Google Suites including Google Classroom, and Powerschool management system
● Communicate with students, families, and colleagues consistently and effectively
● Additional opportunities: Spring Musical performance pit orchestra and coaching

Salary and Benefits
Based on education and experience, beginning at $17,100 ($42,750 base salary, prorated)
Schedule: 3 hours per day, M-F following school calendar; required summer onboarding
This position is not eligible for benefits

Education Requirements
● BA in Music Education or equivalent
● Valid MN teaching license in Music: Vocal and Classroom K-12
