New Student Orientation for all new HCIS students and parent/guardians

When

8/31/2023, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

 For all new students including transfer students & parents/guardians:

Thursday, 8/31 

Please arrive between 530pm - 6pm

Head up to the 4th floor Arrowhead Stage; snacks and refreshments will be ready

Drop off shared school supplies/donation on the collection table

Pick up welcome folder for student ; this will contain name of College Pursuit adviser, schedule, checklist, and other important information

6pm: Short welcome by the executive director, Ms. Aryn Bergsven

From 6:10pm to 7pm: 

Students and parent/guardians go to student’s  College Pursuit adviser's room (Incoming 10th and 11th grade students will be going to one CP advisory per grade, details/location in folder or posted)

• Meet CP adviser and share information

• CP advisers go over “Know the Ropes” pamphlets on School Handbook basics

• Demonstrate ordering lunch on projector/computer via Google form sent daily

Then use your checklist to:

• Students and families find classrooms on their schedules

• Students and families find lockers

• Students and families meet their teachers if they are available while following schedule

• Students and families meet support staff

• Pick up DTA bus passes outside office; passes will be active so you can take the bus home and practice up for the first day of school

• Students get pictures taken near the main office for PowerSchool database

6:55pm Drop off your completed checklist on the way out and you will be entered into a drawing for HCIS swag/bling! Have a great evening and we will see you on the first day of school!
